What we collect:

We will not collect information which is additional or unnecessary to the performance of our services. We may collect the following information:

  • Contact information including telephone, e-mail address
  • Where appropriate, any copy documentation which you may attach containing these details, for example Planning or Construction Drawings, designs, insurance policy wordings, quotations or correspondence.

What we do with the information we gather:

We use this information to respond to your inquiries, understand your requirements, perform your instructions, and tailor the provision of our services. In particular, we use your personal data for:

  • Internal record keeping
  • Invoicing and accounts
  • Communication with you and with third parties necessary to the performance of your request
  • The arrangement of visits to carry out surveys, schedules of condition, to inspect, record and diagnose damage and its cause, discuss your requirements, and the like.

Who might we send your personal data to?

We will always respond directly to you in the first instance if you contact us via our website. Should you appoint us in connection with Structural Engineering or Building Surveying services we may send your data internally between our employees and contracted freelance staff, and we may forward your personal data to third parties who require it, all in connection with specific performance of the works for which you have appointed us. In particular, these might include:

  • Local authorities for Planning or Building Regulation approvals, and the like
  • Specialist draftsmen or engineers
  • Soils testing specialists
  • Root testing specialists
  • Drain test engineers
  • Building and other contractors on our approved panel, for the purposes of tendering for works.

We wish to keep your information safe. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect and hold.

How long will we hold your personal data?

Our services relate to a variety of elements within the built environment. Buildings are by their nature enduring constructions and we may be required to provide details of past designs or services, or to return to provide additional ongoing works many years after those services were first performed.

For this reason, and in connection with the Statutes of Limitations which run from date of loss, or date of discovery of loss, we do not destroy electronic or hard-copy files unless specifically requested to do so by our Clients.

We maintain data electronically by password-protected computer. We maintain data on hard-copy files on-site in our secure offices for a period of 8 years. Hard files are then transferred to secure, off-site archive storage where they cannot be accessed other than by box reference number and retrieved, by us alone, for a fee.

How we use cookies
